Whisper Not of Loneliness |
Life This road is long and hard to follow.
Echoes No questions,
The Gates of Heaven She stood alone
Silence She stood before the mirror
A broken mask
Number 2 I awoke and found myself
Shade of Gray Rainbows are only colors |
Death of a Turtle The fires burned.
Sea of Solitude Whisper not of loneliness
Fear Not! Allow yourself room
Words (of War) You declared war on my soul |

The images resonate strongly and will linger for a long time. Thank you for writing. Sue Turner <SusanT1466@aol.com> - Sunday, February 09, 2003 at 23:39:11 (EST) Words (of War) was stunning. Giving voice to complex emotions, memories, worries. Also, the Kudzu Journal is beautifully presented. A treasure." You must keep writting. catherine pence <bykyfyfy@aol.com> - Monday, February 03, 2003 at 21:06:49 (EST) Stunning. The laconic style lends power to the themes. The line breaks carefully manage the reader to accompany the poet to the place she wants to go. Once into a stanza, the readers have no choice--they must go with her wherever she's headed. "Fear Not" is, in my opinion, this poet's principal poetic theme. All of her poems eventually lead there although the journey is sometimes harrowing. The use of rhyme in "Shades of Gray" creates a powerful epigram. "Life" continues the theme of "Fear Not". Like Dante, this poet has been through the Inferno and is headed to Paradise (with a stop in purgatory along the way). DV ( p.s. Daphne is my daughter). Brenda Ross <brerfox@dowco.com> - Sunday, February 02, 2003 at 13:41:31 (EST) So few words, such huge emotions. Shade of Gray is haunting me. I'm sure I'll read it again and again (like a few of the others) trying to figure out WHY it works on me so significantly.
