The Life Art of Bonnie Everett-Hawkes
With explanatory text graciously provided by the artist

Maddie by Bonnie Everett-Hawkes

"Maddie" is a pencil sketch of a young black female, head or bust shot. I named her Maddie as I did not learn her identity. She was a professional model assigned to us in Art school.

"Pulling Back" was done with a medium charcoal powder technique where light is added by removing the powder, which is the reverse of the charcoal technique. I do not know the model's identity.

Cage's Bondage by Bonnie Everett-Hawkes

"Cage's Bondage" is done in pastel. This is of a black nude male. I named this after my ancestor's who were plantation owner's and who owned many slaves. It depicts the plight of the black slave in bondage being displayed as a commodity on the slave block. The model was a professional artist's model named Henri.

"The Saga" is a still life charcoal sketch of a bust. This medium is charcoal powder.
